ILS has grown to become a successful third party logistics provider. We have done so because we keep one philosophy in mind — to exceed our customer’s expectations in everything we do for them. This important concept has allowed us to make each customer a priority and to work towards making their operation save money.
We do this every day and here are a few examples:
- Specialty Animal Feed Producer—Dedicated Fleet Management Solution
The manufacturer was being challenged to reduce internal shipping costs, remain in compliance with increasing D.O.T. regulations and find qualified drivers for their fleet. ILS was able to merge existing equipment into a dedicated fleet, consolidate routes and decrease deadhead. The equipment and maintenance costs were reduced by 15%. The deadhead mileage costs were reduced by 35%. Overall the operation was much more efficient through the flexibility that was created. The drivers were happy and maintained D.O.T. compliance. The annualized savings = $157,000.
- Plastic Bottle Producer—Trailer Shuttle/Spotting Service
The producer’s in house carrier was providing the shuttle service with their over-the-road drivers. Trailers were being put in the wrong doors and an insufficient job was being done. The customer was struggling because of growing business demands at both of their facilities. ILS was able to find a carrier to provide the service for the customer. An alternating schedule was created to accommodate the customers needs and allow for 24/7 coverage. The customer was 100% satisfied and production output was increased by 25%.
- Tier One Automotive Supplier—Freight Management Solution
The supplier was being challenged to reduce LTL, truckload and expedite costs. They wanted one point of contact who would manage all aspects of their freight from carrier negotiations to pick up and delivery to payment of the freight invoices. ILS was able to provide comprehensive freight management. Milk-runs were created to reduce LTL shipping costs by 40%. Truckload carrier base was consolidated by 40% allowing reduced rates through increased buying power. Expedite freight expenditure was reduced by 50% in year 1 and an additional 20% in year 2. On-time delivery 99% achieved in year 1 and damage claims reduced to less than 0.01%
- Power Systems Manufacturer—Dedicated Lanes
The manufacturer learned their long-time carrier was going out of business due to financial problems. This carrier was their main source for making dedicated inter-company deliveries and had been doing so for 12 years. ILS found a carrier to support the inter-company deliveries. The ILS carrier dropped the number of trailers necessary and began the operation within two days after the request. The transition was smooth and seamless and the only difference to the consignee was the name on the truck.
- Specialty Shaped Steel Wire Producer—Consistent Pick-up/Deliveries
The producer was experiencing late pickup and deliveries from their current transportation provider. This in turn was causing service issues and shut downs with their customers. They were also experiencing round trip charges for dedicated services. ILS was able to find consistent carriers who would load and deliver shipments on-time. In addition, ILS established a base of carriers who would only charge one way costs for all lanes. On-time deliveries increased by 50% to 98% on-time deliveries. Overall transportation costs decreased by 60%.
